The
announcement of the 16th Cyprus Theatre Festival was made at the
charming LBT ‘Bandabuliya Sahnesi’ in the heart of Old Nicosia, the Bandabuliya
Stage of the Nicosia Municipality Theatre,
a lovely workshop theatre stage which so far is known for its Shadow
Theatre performances. Actors, artists and the press had come for a cocktail
party to be given all the detailed news about the upcoming theatre festival, which
is an occasion for many theatre lovers to also have first class theatre
companies from Turkey at their doorsteps. The run for tickets can begin. This
year we have the opportunity to see two plays at the new Bandabuliya Stage
while the other performances will again be at the Near East University at the
Atatürk Congress and Culture Hall as all the years before. Read my review on

There
will be six plays by five theatre companies, please read the programme on the attached poster. Also attached is a
more detailed list of the plays, it is in Turkish but you may find English
texts on the internet by entering the title and the playwright. The festival
starts with a play by Anton Chekhov and with our own theatre company, the
Lefkoşa Belediye Theatre, short LBT (Nicosia Municipality Theatre) and our well-known
actors and actresses. The play will be
performed on two evenings, September 10 and 11 at the Bandabuliya Stage in
Nicosia.
The
tickets for all plays are TL 30 and can be bought under tel. no. 0392 227 87 82,
the performances will all start at 20.30 hrs.
