And here we are with the first AHDR Newsletter for 2016! We hope you had a joyful holiday season and a dynamic start to the new year!

January 2016 signifies the end of a very big and important chapter for AHDR, with the end of our 'Home for Cooperation' project and subsequently, the completion of a long and successful cooperation with our major donor, Norway Grants 2009-2014. This project gave a major boost to the AHDR towards implementing its goals. The Home for Cooperation has been growing and expanding its range of activities continuously since, aiming at narrowing the gap between all communities in Cyprus. At the same time, the academic work of the AHDR has also been expanding both thematically and geographically, through the organisation of three international conferences, the development and publication of a trilingual guide on how to introduce gender in history teaching (launched in November 2015) and an innovative research project regarding the history of Nicosia, which will be launched this month (information available below)!

We would like to take the opportunity to thank Norway Grants for entrusting us this project and supporting us throughout this experience.
Needless to say, this has been just the beginning and we look forward to continuing this journey with all of you, in Cyprus and abroad!

Following 3 years of intensive work by  an inter-communal group of researchers, we are delighted to be launching the findings of our research project, ‘Nicosia: the story of a shared and contested city’ on Friday 15th January 2016. The event will take place at the Home for Cooperation from 18:00 until 20:30, followed by a reception. The project will be in the form of an interactive website which will include maps of Nicosia covering its story between 1898 to 1974. The website will be initially available in English and very soon it will be available in Greek and Turkish, as well!

Remember our Photography Exhibition back in November 2015? If you missed it in Nicosia, the same exhibition will soon be presented inLimassol, including information on the two public debates organised by the AHDR and Cyprus Community Media CentreAlso, a seminar on "Monuments and Memorials as rhetoric / Objectivity as male", will take place on the 23rd January, at 18:00! For more information visit the project's website.

On Sunday, 24 January the High Commission of India in Cyprus and the Home for Cooperation team are inviting you for a full day of activities, including Yoga, Henna application, documentary screenings, Indian cuisine and many more! Activities start at 10:00 at the Home for Cooperation. Full schedule is available here.

Join us for a day-trip  to India!
