GREAT SUCCESS OF ELEVEN-YEAR-OLD PIANIST GORSEV TEPE

Görsev Tepe was ranked third best in the 16th International Evangelia Tjiarri Piano Competition in Larnaca

Youngest pianist of the TRNC, Görsev Tepe (11) achieved the third prize in the 16th Evangelia Tjiarri Piano Competition realized in Larnaca on 3 April 2011.

The competition was on two categories. Category A was for the contestants with 14 years of age maximum and category B was for the contestants of 19 years of age maximum. The youngest contestant of all the competitors was Görsev Tepe and she competed in category A. She played Prelude and Fugue C minor Book 1 from Bach, Op. 13 1st mov. from Beethoven and Chopin’s Fantasie Impromptu.

A total of eight contestants, one thirteen others fourteen years old, competed in the final round of category A and they were from Lithuania, Germany, Russia, Romania, Bulgaria and South Cyprus. The first prize was achieved by Russian Maria Sidorova, who continues her education in Limassol, the second best was Ana Larina Pascu from Romania and the third prize was shared by Görsev Tepe from North Cyprus and Nikolay Zheliazkov from Bulgaria.

Görsev Tepe began her musical education with her mother Oznaz Uzuner, a piano teacher and she sustains her studies with Rauf Kasimov, a Russian pianist of Azerbaijan origin. She took part in many group concerts and realized recitals in North Cyprus and was one of contestants in Amadeus Piano Competition in Czech Republic in February 2010 where she won the Honour Award.

Biographical notes :

She was born in 2000 in Ankara. She began playing piano with her mother, a piano teacher, when she was six years old. From 2007 on, she is working with Russian pianist of Azerbaijan origin and citizen of the TRNC Rauf Kasimov.

Görsev Tepe performed her first concerts in Bellapais Abbey in North Cyprus. She participated in 4th International Pera Piano Festival of İstanbul in May 2009 and received great admiration of the musical authorities. She played Haydn’s Piano Concerto in Do Major with Anadolu Fine Arts High Scool Orchestra of Lefkosa. In May 2009 she performed a solo recital in Bellapais and in November 2009 she took part in the Concert by Young Pianists.

She competed in Amadeus Piano Competition in Czech Republic in February 2010 and received Honour Award.

In Bellapais in May 2010, she took part in a concert organized by Deniz Temiz (Clean Seas) Association with seven pianists from Cyprus Piano Group and she performed a succesful recital in another organization by the same association in June 2010.

Görsev Tepe sustains her studies intensively by Rauf Kasimov.

Her goal is to become a renowned concert pianist and represent her country on the island and in international musical circles and in the meantime she is a student of 23 April Elementary School’s 5th grade.
