When you have done your work you have all reason to
celebrate, to celebrate with those who have helped along your road and who have
said YES to the new line of Toparlaniyoruz. The invitation went out to all the
communities visited during the year, to tradesmen and friends of the movement,
also to members of parliament; Hasan Boser, the speaker of the parliament had
come, and political secretaries under
the condition that they would listen to what was being said and that they would
change their way of thinking and follow the road of clean politics in the
future.
Dr. Kudret Öserzay welcomed every single guest – and
there at least 300 – at the entrance gate to the beautiful Bedesten, next to
him his close supporters and his Mom. The serene atmosphere that reigns in the
building helped to make the evening something special. I said to my husband:
“Perhaps we experience the birth to something new this very evening, mark my
words…”.
Ms Neslihan Basaran and Gunes Sarikamis, close
co-workers, did the welcoming speech with a short retrospection on what was
done and what has been achieved.
A dashing film gave the guests a visual impression how
Toparlaniyoruz was received in the communities and what questions were asked
and how Dr. Kudret Öserzay answered them. Finally he himself held a short
speech with thanks to his supporters and the friends of tomorrow.
Among the guests were Lisa Buttenheim, Special Representative and Head of the United Nations
Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP); the German Ambassadress Dr. Gabriella
Guellil, Ms. Anu Saarela, Ambassadress of Finland; the Undersecretary of the
Turkish Embassy, Mr. Murat Basceri; many mayors, associations and unions
on the island. Not to forget the families with disabled children who were so
grateful for the efforts Toparlaniyoruz has undertaken to provide for two
wheelchairs urgently needed; here the efforts will continue.
Before the birthday cake was cut to be distributed
among the guests, Kudred Öserzay said: “…Although I am the leader of the
movement, I am nothing but one of you, amongst all the volunteers and friends
on our road to a clean and better country.”
A touching moment at this well planned birthday party.
We wish them many followers, and may this idea take root across our globe.
