The Cyprus College of Art presents
The European Art Education Conference 2014
at the Cornaro Institute, Larnaca

EAEC/2014: 11 to 13 September 2014

The European Art Education Conference is an annual gathering in Larnaca and Nicosia of artists and designers working in universities and art colleges around the world. Including academics as far away as the UK, Jamaica and New Zealand, the aim of the event is to ask the question, what is art and design education in the twenty-first century and how can we improve it? The delegates will also be looking to develop international partnerships with Cypriot universities and art schools .

As part of the conference there will be a special film screening of Huw Wahl’s new film on the leading art and education theorist Herbert Read, entitled To Hell with Culture. Wahl and Herbert Read’s son, Benedict Read, will also be answering questions on Herbert Read after the screening which takes place at the University of Nicosia on Friday 12 September at 19:30.

The conference is jointly organised by Andreas Efstathiou (The Cornaro Institute), Dr Michael Paraskos FRSA (City and Guilds of London School of Art), Benedict Read FSA (University of Leeds), Dr Nicos Souleles (Cyprus University of Technology), Evanthia Tselika (University of Nicosia) and Angela Witney (The Cornaro Institute)
