Those were the days when we children got our bucket and shovel to build our first castle on the beach, what fun it was and how we got absorbed; nothing mattered but sand, water and sun.
On Sunday, May 12, mothers’ day, we went to Famagusta to EMU beach, the beach club of the Eastern Mediterranean University to see young students of the architecture and fine arts departments take the same tools and enjoy themselves for a whole day to form sculptures from the finest sand imaginable. We came early so could not see finished sculptures but just a handful. How much I would have liked to join in the pleasure the young people obviously had.
The event is organized by the arts departments of EMU and takes place every year.
