On Sunday, 3 November 2013, the LBT celebrated its 33rd
birthday. Many good wishes flowed
through all internet channels and the team of Cyprus Observer would like to
join in the long line of congratulants.
Here is to all the team of Lefkosa Belediye Tiyatrosu
– Nicosia Belediye Theatre – LBT – our best wishes for a good future and may
all your dreams come true, dreams and hopes that have been carried in your
hearts along for years, dreams that have not come true yet, the dream of a
proper theatre building, or more exactly: …the finishing of construction of the
skeleton a of building that stands behind the municipality, but as Yaşar Ersoy says in one of his books:… Hope is the last
thing to die.
I have interviewed them all, I have been to most of
the plays since 2005, been to rehearsals and know what it looks like behind the
stage. I know of their working life, their enthusiasm and their earnestness. I
know of their leitmotiv to bring good entertainment to its audience and their
endeavours to train young people and
lead them to a professional life if the talent is there.
I know the strength of Yaşar Ersoy, the Grey Eminence, the motor and leader, to
hold everything together and to fight for good theatre. It is their life, it is
their home.
They will all be part of my new book to come out
soon, as a display of my respect. My
personal wishes will accompany them for the years to come.
