Turkish Cypriot Paper Artists in Ankara
By Heidi Trautmann
The North Cypriot Quadriga Inci Kansu, Ismet Tatar, Emel Samioğlu and Simge Uygur are again out to deliver the message on paper art around the world – was it Korea last time, France, Italy, Germany, now it is Ankara in Turkey: A group exhibition of Turkish and Turkish Cypriot IAPMA artists will take place at the Gözde Art Gallery from 20 December 2011 - 7 January 2012. IAPMA is the ‘International Association of Paper Making Artists’ who had held their 25th anniversary at the Near East University in Nicosia at the beginning of this year. The artists from Turkey are Nur Gökbulut, Yasemin Kayabaşı, Nurtaç Özler, Yurdagül Pakalin, Hakan Pehlivan, some of them I have met at the exhibition here in North Cyprus.
The title of the exhibition is Kağidin Halleri which means, if I have translated correctly, ‘Paper Solutions’, a good title.
