A tribute in aid of Tulips was held at Haci Ali Hotel last Saturday 19
July in tribute to George Roper who started the Esentepe Fun Run to raise funds
for Tulips and who eventually succumbed to cancer himself. Incidentally
it would have been George's birthday last Saturday so it was a fitting tribute to
a man who did so much to help support Tulips/Help Those With Cancer
Association.
Lee and Jan Hickens have organised this event each year in George's
memory and last Saturday was a great evening attended by many of George's
friends and family. There was an organised quiz by Rick the Quiz, music
from Man in Black, Jamie and Steve D and also a raffle and auction.

Everyone had a great time and we would like to say a huge thank you to
Lee and Jan for their stirling efforts to raise funds not only for Tulips but
for many, many worthwhile charitable causes. It takes a lot of time,
effort and quite often money to put these events on and we can only always be
grateful for people like Lee (Johnny Lee) for all their hard work. Thank you
also to all who attended, because without your generosity on the night there
would be no fund raising.
502 TL was raised on the night but some great news is that Soner Kioufi
(Owner and Editor of the Kibkom Times and Forum) has informed us that he is
adding 1,000 TL to the total to support this fund raising event for
Tulips. Making a final total of 3,502TL! Wow, thank you so
much Soner we know that you also support local charties in lots of ways and we
are very grateful for your contribution to this event on Tulips behalf. *) we have to update; it is TL 3000,00!!!!!!
We are just flabbergasted!
So, as always we are moved and surprised by people's caring, kindness
and generosity and the above is just an example of exactly that.
So on behalf of Tulips/Help Those with Cancer Association Raziye, Sue
and myself we would like to say a huge thank you to all you wonderful people.
