Ten
years – I can hardly believe it – and it is going stronger with every year. It
is a pleasure to hold a catalogue in your hands that is professionally done
just as the whole event from the very beginning, starting with the announcing
of the competition. Buket Özatay, an excellent photographer herself, with many
awards from worldwide competitions, traveling around the globe with her camera,
and the results shown in international exhibitions….Buket Özatay is a leading
figure in promoting art photography, I mean, she also entertains courses to

When
you intend to attend the opening of this event you need to bring plenty of time
with you; this year the ceremony was held in the auditorium of the Atatürk
Cultural Centre, it was the only way to hold all the visitors, the anteroom
would have been too small. HE Mustafa
Akinci and his wife Meral were present at the opening.
I
realized that this time there were more photographs from far away countries,
other cultures, nature in its purest form, photographers on the road to find
the unusual. The works in the black and white category are very good and
architecture and structure photography have increased which I appreciate. The
world of nature, of animals and especially insects was well covered; just
imagine to have to sit for hours, often days to hope to meet with these samples
of beauty. Looking at them makes you feel small.
Our
thank you to Buket Özatay and her family who makes this effort every year in
memory of her father, an effort which takes several months each year.
