Again we have had an art exhibition of art schools that have their studios within the walls of the Old City of Lefkoşa, this time there were two, the one of Osman Keten and the other of Aşık Mene…… the third one of Nilgün Güney who took part in 2016, had a separate exhibition high up in the mountains of Taşkent at the same time with a nature project within the Taşkent Nature Park. The two artists Osman Keten and Aşık Mene, artists with different working and teaching styles have one important thing in common, that is the love for art and the willingness to share their knowledge with students of all ages in order to teach them something fundamental in life and in society. I am very content to see this development, and also that the art education bears fruit in the sense that the students of long years hand on their passion to younger ones, as one young woman, Ceren Emmioglu was telling me at the exhibition. She proudly showed me the works of one of her young students.

May art education gain more importance in general schools as well, it helps to open the minds for other subjects just as well.
