“Remembering History – a Case Study from Germany”
As they believe that it is essential that every modern society should be able to come to terms with the past, - by which, of course, is meant a critical re-evaluation that does not shy away from addressing difficult issues and taboos -, the Goethe-Institut Cyprus together with the Association for Historical Research and Dialogue, the Friedrich-Ebert-Foundation Cyprus, Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot Teachers’ Platform United Cyprus and “Together we can” – The Bicommunal Initiative of Relatives of Missing Persons and Victims of Massacres and War, invite to this seminar (in English).

On Saturday, 16th March 2013 from 10am -1.30 pm at the Home for Cooperation (Nicosia buffer zone opposite Ledra Palace hotel)

Participants from Germany will be Ms. Magdalena Scharf from “Action Reconciliation / Services for Peace” and Mr. Uwe Bader, director of the ex-concentration camp Osthofen memorial and information centre.

Moderation will be done by the Cypriot investigative journalist Ms. Sevgül Uludag.

All interested in discussing the matter and trying to relate the topic to the situation in Cyprus are cordially invited to attend.

Das Goethe-Institut Zypern, die Association for Historical Research and Dialogue, die Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Zypern, die Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot Teachers’ Platform United Cyprus sowie „Together We Can“ die bi-kommunale Initiative von Angehörigen von Vermissten und Opfern von Massakern und Krieg laden zu diesem Seminar (auf Englisch) ein.

Am Samstag, 16. März 2013, von 10.00 bis 13.30 Uhr im Home for Cooperation (gegenüber dem Ledra Palace Hotel in der UN-Pufferzone) / Nikosia.

Die Teilnehmer aus Deutschland sind Frau Magdalena Scharf von der 1958 gegründeten deutschen Organisation „Aktion Sühnezeichen / Friedensdienste“, sowie Herr Uwe Bader, Leiter der Gedenkstätte des ehemaligen Konzentrationslagers Osthofen bei Worms.

Die Moderation der Veranstaltung hat die zyprische Journalistin Sevgül Uludag, die sich seit Jahren dem Thema „Missing Persons“ widmet.

Alle an diesem auch für Zypern äußerst wichtigen Thema Interessierte sind herzlich eingeladen.
