To celebrate the 35th anniversary of the TRNC 38 art teachers of all Near East University educational institutions and university faculties were invited to contribute to an art exhibition including the disciplines painting, sculpting, printmaking and ceramics.

Founding Rector Dr. Suat I. Günsel, whose vision it has been to further education in all fields, especially the arts, now for nearly 40 years, was present when the exhibition was opened at the reopened Art Centre exhibition rooms in the Atatürk Culture and Congress Centre. Opening speeches were held by Prof. Dr. Fahreddin Sadikoğlu, Vice Rector, Prof. Erdal Aygenç, and finally Prime Minister Tayfun Erhürman.
The four salons were soon filled with academic staff and many artists and art
lovers. Many paintings were taken from the newly opened NEU Modern Art Museum which contains Dr. Suat. I.Günsel’s extensive private art collection. The exhibition which showed art created by TRNC artists, was quite impressive as such and many different techniques were on display which I enjoyed, although I feared for the ceramic art on narrow stands with the many people present.
The exhibition is still open for the public until November 30, 2018.
I cannot show all the art works, just a taster, and I sincerely recommend that
the exhibition is visited.
