I was informed by the Goethe Institute about their first event in 2012:
The new year starts for the Goethe-Institut Cyprus with a lecture (in English
language) by the president of the German Max Planck Society for the Advancement
of the Sciences, Prof. Dr. Peter Gruss
on Friday, 13
th January 2012
at 6.30 pm
in the hall of the Goethe-Institut Cyprus.
The title of the lecture will be:
” The Benefits of Science for Society”.
Prof. Gruss is also member of the Board of Trustees of the Cyprus Institute, whose
annual meeting takes place in January. Co-organizer of the lecture evening is the
Cyprus Institute and the Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation. Alumnis of
German universities, but also Greek- and Turkish-Cypriot academics and scientists
as well as the general public interested in scientific topics are cordially invited to
attend. After the lecture and discussion a small reception is planned.
The Max Planck Society for the Advancement of the Sciences operates various
renown research institutes in Germany and abroad and is considered the No. 2
worldwide behind Harvard University in international research institutes.
