Spring is here, the sun is shining and Cyprus started to look fabulous: The best time for new ideas to flourish! In this newsletter you will find the open call for Home for Cooperation's famous Buffer Fringe Festival, several events organized by the Home as well as the ones organized at the Home, and news from our network. Make sure to read until the end not to miss anything!
Buffer Fringe Performing Arts Festival 2017 - Open Call
Buffer Fringe Performing Arts Festival is on the look-out for local and international talent! The one of a kind, annual festival will take place in November and will feature both a main stage and an alternative stage, "Buffer Fringe Shorts". All artists with ground-breaking, avant-garde and experimental works are encouraged to apply! άκ02 presents a sound installation by Emiddio Vasquez that addresses the unusual experience of Cypriots caused by the existence of different time zones on both sides of the buffer zone Nicosia as of October 31, 2016.This 3 day sound installation is an aural experiment on time stretching and time travel. Storytelling: Bring the Kids!
Julia, the Travelling Storyteller, comes all the way from Colombia to bring you fun stories for the whole family: Why do dogs sniff their tails? What happens when you steal from a Linani monster? How do you outsmart a dragon?
This is an interactive storytelling event for children. Although the event is in English, non-english speakers are welcome to attend! More information about the event can be found here.

The event will take place at the Home Cafe on March 25, Saturday between 11.00-12.00 EET. There is no entrance fee for the event. (Donations can be made for the story teller)

Open Discussion: Nationalism - Racism and Hate Crimes
On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of all forms of Racial Discrimination, KISA - Action for Equality, Support, Anti-racism, and "Refugee Rights Association" (RRA), are organizing an open discussion entitled "Nationalism - racism and hate crimes." The discussion will be held at the Home for Cooperation, on Tuesday (21/03/2017) at 18:00 EET. More information about the event can be found here.
Bi-Communal Astronomy Workshop for Youth
Association for Historical Dialogue and Research and GalileoMobile's Columba-Hypatia project is having another astronomy workshop open to participants aged between 13-18 years old, at the Home for Cooperation on April 1! Call for Volunteers: Amateur Translators
The AHDR and GalileoMobile are currently looking for amateur volunteer translators in Greek, Turkish and/or English to assist with the facilitation of astronomy workshops for children on April 1 and from May 9 to 23 at the Home For Cooperation. Please contact Loizos Loukaidis at loizos.loukaidis@ahdr.info to volunteer!
Open Call - Forbidden Stories
Forbidden Stories project by Ludens Ensemble aims at creating a platform that will function as a bridge between Greek-Cypriot and Turkish-Cypriot communities in Cyprus to create a common narrative for life in Cyprus. The project is funded by Paphos 2017 European Capital of Culture. Information about the project and the applications forms in English, Greek and Turkish can be found here.
