“FORGOTTEN BALLADS”

2nd of September 2012, Sunday at 7PM

The 7th ANNUAL EXHIBITION – LIMNITIS / YESILIRMAK - CYPRUS

Forgotten is not the right word, “forced to be forgotten” infact ! Is it the ballads only which have been forced to be forgotten ? Isn’t it the sticky smell of“lahmacun”, instead of sweet smell of our pilavuna just from the oven ? Isn’t it the bloody power who tries to correct (!) our own Cypriot accent ? Isn’t it the wild attack of that dirty power onto our schools, media, theatre and our own land where still holds Aphrodite’s footprints ? Isn’t it the aim to eradicateTurkish Speaking Cypriots !

And the World is on fire !

I’ll exhibit limited collection of my carvings, but we’ll also have a tiny stage here in the exhibition. The stage as a symbol of resisting Cypriots and humanity. Bring your poem or ballad, take your instrument when you’re coming ! Let’s sing songs for friendship and peace, freedom of our common land in Turkish, in Greek, in English, in Kurdish, in Armenian…but one voice ! Don’t also forget to bring your “zivania” to rise our glasses in the “fiesta of the Sun” !

We went to Ismail's exhibition last year and it remained an experience not to be forgotten! See my review under Cyprus Art News
