Background

Located within the Ledra Palace Buffer Zone, Nicosia, the Home For Cooperation (H4C)

provides a shared space for inter-communal cooperation and dialogue. Hosting a library and

archive, offices, conference and exhibition spaces, the H4C with its programs and partners,

aims to foster intercultural dialogue and understanding both in Cyprus and globally.

As part of this aim, the H4C offers attractive and well-equipped spaces to hire for a range of

activities, such as conferences, workshops, meeting, press conferences, film screenings and

exhibitions.

As such, the Association for Historical Dialogue & Research (AHDR) are currently seeking to

recruit a pool of dedicated individuals to work as H4C Caretakers to take responsibility

for overseeing events and activities at the H4C after office hours and at weekends.

Duties and Responsibilities

H4C Caretakers will be responsible for providing cover for events that are held in the H4C

during evening and weekends.

Responsibilities will include:

To ensure the opening and locking of the HC before an after events and being

responsible for the alarm system in the Home

To provide assistance in the setting up of rooms for events

To assist in the set up of technical equipment (e.g. projector, speakers etc) and

trouble shooting any problems that may arise

To assist in the needs of hirers of the space during events

To ensure compliance with H4C policies and procedures and other regulation

governing the Buffer Zone

To ensure the health and safety of all visitors to the H4C

To ensure that conference room/meeting rooms are left clean and tidy after use.

Applicants should have a valid driving licence and be willing to work evening and weekends.

Required Skills, Experience and Competencies

Must be extremely trustworthy and responsible

Must be highly reliable and punctual

Must be able to work flexible hours evenings and weekends

Good communication and interpersonal skills in English

Working knowledge of Turkish and/or Greek language

Experience and/or understanding of multicultural and bi-communal events and

activities

Ability to work in a multicultural, multi ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect

for diversity
