I am somewhat speechless at the poor participation of our young artists in this year’s national competition. Just nine young people have participated with 37 works and eight thereof with 26 works were chosen for display with three awards.
The jury to determine the three best and one mention worthy were the artists Mustafa Hastürk, Nilgün Güney and Osman Keten. They didn’t have an easy job.
I asked my artist friends, complaining that today young artists are a little careless in the execution of their brush work, what they thought about it, and they said: This is Postmodernism, it is not important how you do an artwork, it must have a message, touch something in the viewer’s mind.
The awards were given to Ahmet Erman Karagöz, Ipek Denizli Karagöz and Mehmet Sariler. A special mention was granted to Özan Beyzade.
