 | As part of the program of the “Month of the German Language” the Goethe-Institut Cyprus and the Union of Cyprus Writers cordially invite you to a reading from the book “The Taste of Apple Seeds” (“Der Geschmack der Apfelkerne”) of Katharina Hagena. The event will take place on Thursday, 19th November 2015 in the exhibition hall of the Goethe-Institut in Nicosia at 7.30 p.m. The author will read from her book in German and in addition texts will be read in greek and turkish translation. A discussion with the author and a reception will follow. Katharina Hagena´s debut novel „The Taste of Apple Seeds“ is a family saga, narrated from the perspective of the granddaughter, Iris. The novel starts with the death of the grandmother, who had suffered from Alzheimer’s for many years. The grandmother stated in her last will that her granddaughter should inherit the family house; thus, Iris – against all her best intentions - travels back into the history of the family, back into her own childhood.
