In September 2010, Niki Marangou and I represented Cyprus at the International Art Festival in Monastir in Tunesia. I have always been fascinated by the watercolours of Klee and Macke from their trip, and so, I was given the opportunity to follow in their footsteps in a country where the Islamic past thrives parallel to a modern western way of life. I created a series of watercolours from which the paintings for the exhibition were influenced. A short while after returning to Cyprus, the Revolution broke out!
