A talk by Mr Thomas Hammarberg
(Former Council of Europe’s Commissioner for Human Rights)

On the occasion of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the Association for Historical Dialogue and Research (AHDR) and Home for Cooperation (H4C), in collaboration with the Council of Europe and the EEA and Norway Grants, have the honour of hosting a public lecture by former Council of Europe’s Commissioner for Human Rights, Mr Thomas Hammarberg.

Based on his many years working on the advancement of human rights in Europe and worldwide, Mr Thomas Hammarberg, who served as former Council of Europe’s Commissioner for Human Rights from 2006 until spring of 2012, will talk about the role of Human Rights in the building or a culture of Cooperation in Europe. The talk will be followed by a cocktail reception.

Over the past 25 years, Mr Hammarberg has published widely on various human rights issues, particularly on children's rights, refugee policy, minority issues, xenophobia, Roma rights as well as international affairs and security. He is also well known for his presentations and lectures on human rights at various governmental and academic institutions.
