Three
Baroque composers
Antonio
Vivaldi (1678 – 1741)
J.
Sebastian Bach (1685 – 1750)
Johann
Pachelbel (1653-1706)
and
some of their famous musical works were brought to life on one October
afternoon at the Bedesten in Nicosia by the Presidential Symphony Orchestra and
guest soloists. A bridge was established over centuries to a special historical
period in music to music lovers of 2018 sitting in a historical building the
first stones of which were laid in the 6th century.
It
was an uplifting feeling to listen to notes written down so long ago and at the
same time touching us deeply and played on instruments that were partly created
at the same period or before.
The
compositions are very clear and simple in construction, serene, peaceful and we
enjoyed the deep understanding of the orchestra and the soloists. And while we
were following the notes floating through the beautiful hall, I saw - through
the high windows - passers-by stop wondering where these beautiful tunes came
from.
Please
read the details on the poster.
There
is also a mention on the orchestra’s concerts in November
