The Goethe-Institut Cyprus, the Austrian Embassy, the Friedrich-Ebert-Foundationand and the Cypriot German Cultural Association invite to a Talk (in English) with book-launch with the longtime resident (since more than 70 years!) on Cyprus Mrs. Elsie Slonim about: „Remembering History - My always changing and adventurous life between the USA, Austria, Palestine/Israel and Cyprus from 1917 until today“ on Wednesday, 12th June 2013 at 7.00 pm in the Goethe-Institut Cyprus hall (next to Ledra Palace Hotel in the UN-Bufferzone).

Moderation: Björn Luley, Director of the Goethe-Institut in Nikosia

 At that occasion Mrs. Slonim’s memoires, which were published in 2012 in German and in English („Rosen aus der Sperrzone – Verwurzelung verboten“ / „Lemons from Paradise“) will also be presented. Both editions will be on sale and can be signed by Mrs. Slonim. All interested in the fascinating life of this unique and strong woman are cordially welcome!

A small reception will follow. Admission is free!

Das Goethe-Institut Zypern, die Österreichische Botschaft, die Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung sowie der Zyprisch-Deutsche-Kulturverein laden ein zu einem Gesprächsabend (auf Englisch) mit der seit über 70 Jahren auf Zypern lebenden Elsie Slonim zum Thema:„Geschichte erinnern - Mein bewegtes und abenteuerliches Leben zwischen den USA, Österreich, Palästina/Israel und Zypern von 1917 bis heute“ am Mittwoch, 12.Juni 2013 um 19 Uhr im Goethe-Institut Zypern (neben dem Ledra Palace Hotel in der UN-Pufferzone).

Bei der Gelegenheit werden auch die 2012 auf Deutsch und Englisch erschienenen Memoiren von Frau Slonim („Rosen aus der Sperrzone – Verwurzelung verboten“ bzw. „Lemons from Paradise“) vorgestellt. Die beiden Ausgaben können käuflich erworben und auf Wunsch von Frau Slonim signiert werden. Alle an den Lebenserinnerungen dieser einzigartigen und starken Frau Interessierten sind herzlich eingeladen.

Im Anschluß an die Veranstaltung findet ein kleiner Empfang statt. Der Eintritt ist frei!
