Opening of the art exhibition "The Colour of Truth" - about missing persons and mass graves in Cyprus
Goethe-Institut Cyprus and the “Together We Can”- Association – the bi-communal Initiative of Relatives of Missing Persons and Victims of Massacres and War and the Nilgün Güney Art Studio cordially invite to the opening of the exhibition on 15th March, 2013 at 6.30 pm in the gallery of the Goethe-Institut Cyprus (buffer zone next to Ledra Palace hotel). The exhibition will be open during working days from Tuesday 19th till Friday 22nd March 2013 from 11 am – 7.00 pm.

Art works by Turkis Cypriot, Greek Cypriot, Syrian Cypriot and Italian Cypriot artists will be presented. The artists were brought together by the bi-communal Initiative of relatives and victims of massacres and war “Together we can” and the Nilgün Güney Art Studio. The artists met relatives of “missing persons” from both communities, visited exhumation sites and spots where massacres took place in both parts of the island in 1963 and 1974.

Investigative journalist Sevgül Uludag cofacilitated the coming together of artists from the two sides of the divide in a series of workshops together with artist Nilgün Güney. The workshops included testimonies from relatives of “missing persons” and victims of massacres, visits to the homes of victims of war and site visits to mass graves in both parts of the island.

Eröffnung der Ausstellung: "Die Farbe der Wahrheit …” Mit Werken zyprischer Künstler zum Thema „Missing Persons“
Das Goethe-Institut Zypern und „Together We Can“ - die bi-kommunale Initiative von Angehörigen Vermisster Personen und Opfer von Massakern und Krieg zusammen mit dem Nilgün Güney Kunststudio Nikosia laden herzlich ein zur Eröffnung der Ausstellung am Freitag, 15.3.2013 um 18.30 Uhr in der Galerie des Goethe-Instituts Zypern (UN Pufferzone, neben dem Ledra Palace Hotel). Die Ausstellung ist geöffnet von Dienstag 19.3. bis Freitag 22.3.2013 täglich von 11.00 bis 19.00 Uhr.

Gezeigt werden Werke Türkischer und Griechischer Zyprioten sowie Syrisch- und Italienischstämmiger Zyprioten, allesamt Künstler, die sich bei "Together we can" kennenlernten und sich regelmäßig im Studio von Nilgün Güney zu gemeinsamem Schaffen und Austausch treffen.

Die Künstler trafen Verwandte von Vermissten beider Volksgruppen, besuchten gemeinsam Exhumierungsorte und Stätten, an denen zwischen 1963 und 1974 in beiden Teilen der Insel Massaker stattgefunden hatten.

Die investigative Journalistin Sevgül Uludag brachte die Künstler zusammen und motivierte sie, sich regelmäßig im Studio von Nilgün Güney zu treffen. Dort lernten die Künstler auch die Verwandten von Vermissten und Opfer von Massakern kennen und hörten deren Lebensgeschichten, trafen sich in den Häusern von Kriegsopfern und besuchten gemeinsam die Massengräber in beiden Teilen der Insel. Die Ausstellung wird seitens des Goethe-Instituts Zypern gefördert.
